For Triumph’s Freedom Briefs campaign, we had the pleasure of working with Sticky Stuff and Dept on a project that was all about going with the flow—literally. The campaign, aptly named "Go with the Flow," needed to capture the essence of freedom and fluidity, and we were brought on board to bring this vision to life through animation and editing.
The concept centered around an artistic watercolor animation that would flow gracefully over paper, creating a sense of movement and freedom. Sticky Stuff filmed multiple women wearing Triumph Freedom Briefs, capturing their movements in a beautifully flowing style. Our task was to seamlessly blend these flowing motions with the watercolor animation, comping the footage over the painted visuals.
Initially, we explored a frame-by-frame animation approach with Freek van Haagen, who also assisted with the illustrations. However, after some R&D, we realized this method felt too jittery and lacked the smooth, flowing feel we wanted. Freek continued to contribute by crafting harmonious color compositions based on the footage of the models.
Ultimately, we developed a custom system in After Effects that perfectly captured the leaking watercolor effect we were after. The result was a seamless, flowing animation that embodied the essence of the Triumph Freedom Briefs—no stock footage, just pure creativity in motion.
